Corkins Lodge is one of the best places for New Mexico leaf peeping in the fall. The northern New Mexico mountains have groves of aspen trees that sparkle yellow among the pine trees. Our hiking trails reveal gorgeous views.

Fall Activities

Our 750 acres of pristine wilderness await the best hiking in Northern New Mexico. The best part is that you can feel like you have the entire place to yourself, as our hiking trails are only open to our guests and not the public.

Fall is also one of the best times of year to ride the Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad, a historic steam train that offers day trips and overnight trips.

After your adventures, you can cozy up beside a fireplace or wood-burning stove in your mountain cabin. We also offer board games that can be checked out from the office.

Fall Trip Planning

The fall colors typically begin in early to mid-October and can extend into the beginning of November. However, we also received our first snowfall during this time period. Plan to pack layers for a variety of weather conditions.
