Been heading to Corkins almost every year since around 2000. The first time there began with this unforgettable moment when my friend tapped me on the shoulder, pointed off toward the 2000ft tall Brazos Cliffs and said “That’s where we’re going.” (Jaw drops). Philo – who I’ve been told was there since she was a girl – welcomes visitors each year, then you’re off to start hiking, fishing, climbing up boulder fields, relaxing or even trying to make it up/in the Box Canyon. The trails used to bother me since I don’t like getting lost: they’re primitive. But that makes it feel more like you are in a national park but not, since you get the sense you’re more or less there on your own. Incredible place, nice people, a little pricey, unforgettable experience.
