Corkins Lodge has some of the very best private fishing options in Northern New Mexico.

Guests at Corkins Lodge get to enjoy top-notch fishing opportunities for all levels of fishing experience right here on our vast wilderness retreat in the mountains of Northern New Mexico.  Everyone from the advanced fly fisherman to the beginner little fisherman tikes in your family will find an ideal place to reel in a few fish during their stay at Corkins Lodge.  And after a day of fishing, guests can enjoy grilling their catch for dinner back at their cabin, each appointed with a BBQ grill and full kitchen.

Brazos River 

Exclusive private access to 3 miles of the Brazos river for fly fishing.

Corkins Lodge guests get exclusive private access to 3 miles of the Brazos River, running through the southern side of the lodge grounds.  This stretch of the Brazos River is a premier fly-fishing location in New Mexico.  The river at Corkins Lodge is open for fishing year-round, but May through October are considered the best window for catching the rainbow trout and brown trout found in this river.  

Note: From 1/4 Mile Hiking Trail Road all the way to the Box Canyon is catch and release only. We can show you a map when you get here.

Our trout-stocked pond is perfect for leisurely fishing, families, and beginners.

Nestled in the pines near the cabins at Corkins Lodge, visitors will find our peaceful private pond available for a more relaxed fishing experience.  Enjoy the breathtaking view of the Brazos Cliffs along the pond banks while you fish.  The pond is ideal for families with children looking for more beginner fishing adventures.  The pond is stocked with rainbow trout and no license is required for fishing.  

Fishing Supplies

At Corkins Lodge, we provide ice, bait, hooks, and tin foil. We don’t provide flies, poles, or any fishing gear. Here are some local shops to stock up on fishing supplies before your visit:

Land of Enchantment Guides

Corkins Lodge has partnered with Land of Enchantment Guides to offer our guests best-in-class guided fly fishing day trips.  Land of Enchantment Guides in an ORVIS endorsed fly fishing guide service offering fly fishing trips here at Corkins Lodge and other rivers and streams throughout New Mexico and southern Colorado.  Their experienced fly fishing guides will do their best to ensure that you have fun, along with offering the chance to develop and improve your fly fishing skills.  Beginner to expert anglers are all welcome.

Any fly fishing gear needed (rods and reels, custom tied flies, waders and wading shoes, etc.) is provided for all fishing trips, at no additional cost. Hors d’oeuvres, a nice lunch, drinks and snacks are also included on full-day trips.
